Gummy Bear Sugar Cookie Thumbprint Cookies Recipe

I love baking cookies, especially for the holiday season. Two of my favorite cookies to bake are sugar cookies and thumbprint cookies. This year for New Year’s Eve, I combined my two favorites and added a sweet twist by making some new gummy bear sugar cookie thumbprint cookies.

    Ingredients

    • 1 cup of white sugar
    • 1/2 cup of butter
    • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
    • 3 tablespoons of milk
    • 1 egg
    • 2 1/3 cups of all-purpose flour
    • 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda
    • colored sugar
    • gummy bears

    Directions

    1. Mix together the sugar and butter.
    2. Add the vanilla, milk, and egg.
    3. In a separate bowl, stir together the flour and baking soda.
    4. Slowly add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients.
    5. Preheat the oven to 350°.
    6. Roll the cookie dough into one-inch balls.
    7. Flatten the balls.
    8. Roll the flattened balls in the colored sugar.
    9. Place the cookies on an ungreased cookie sheet.
    10. Press a small indentation in the center of each cookie.
    11. Place one gummy bear in the center of each indentation.
    12. Bake for 8 to 12 minutes or until golden.
    13. Allow the cookies to cool slightly before removing from the cookie sheet.
    14. Allow the cookies to cool thoroughly.
    15. Store the sugar cookies in an airtight container.
