Making Reindeer Food for Christmas Eve

Making Reindeer Food for Christmas Eve

One memory that I have of Christmas as a child involves spreading reindeer food on my lawn to help guide Santa to my house. Flying reindeer apparently love oatmeal, and the sparkly glitter helps guide the sleigh in for a safe landing. To make your own reindeer food, all you need are some oats and some glitter. I used red and green for some extra holiday cheer. (You can also use colored sugar for a safer version, but I did not think about using sugar this year until I had already mixed the oats and glitter together!) Then on Christmas Eve, simply sprinkle the reindeer food outside your home with your child to help Santa find his way!
