A woman has revealed how an uncomfortable first date at Texas Roadhouse ended with her walking out and paying for her own food after her date allegedly asked what she could offer him in exchange for paying.

In a TikTok video by @caldo.de.les, she said she met a man who had asked her out several times before she finally agreed to meet him. But what was supposed to be an ordinary dinner turned into something else as the conversation kept drifting back to money, income and financial status over and over again.

The woman said she met the man at Texas Roadhouse around 6 p.m. He had picked that restaurant, which she liked already and often took her family to.

The woman said that the first thing her date asked after they sat down was what she thought the credit scores of people dining at the restaurant were.

She said she had brushed it off at first but soon realized that most of what they were talking about was finances.

He reportedly said he wanted to be a millionaire in a year before asking what car she drove. When she replied that it was her 2023 Toyota Camry he allegedly said “not bad choice”.

He then talked about his own truck.

The conversation also turned to their professions. The woman, a nurse, said her date told her she should be grateful because nurses automatically make more money than people in several other professions.

She said she found his constant salary comparisons “frustrating because he was questioning my financial status and then saying I earned too much”.

Things got even more awkward when he explained why he had picked Texas Roadhouse.

She said he had picked the restaurant because “he thought it would be somewhere I’d feel comfortable in” and that it was within her budget.

The comment shocked her, especially as he had criticized her earlier for not appreciating how much she earned.

Eventually, the woman said she started thinking about how to end the date. Then things took another turn when he allegedly pointed at her Dr. Pepper and the appetizer they were sharing and asked: “What can you do for me? What can you offer me in exchange for this?”

She said they hadn’t even ordered their main courses yet.

The woman told him that she had nothing to give him and wasn’t going to sleep with him for a meal.

She also said her date had already drunk several alcoholic drinks and was annoyed that she hadn’t. She told him that she needed to drive as well, as she had to pick up her son from a friend’s house later.

After asking the uncomfortable question, the man laughed and said he was going to the bathroom.

As soon as he got up, she grabbed her purse and went to their waitress to pay the bill.

The woman said the waitress seemed to understand what was happening and even laughed when she approached her. The TikTok creator told her server that she had been waiting to see if she would leave or stay through the date.

Even though the woman offered to pay the entire bill, the waitress told her she could just cover her Dr. Pepper and half the appetizer.

Eventually, she paid for the whole appetizer and her drink ($17 total) and tipped the waitress $40. “I told her I really liked how nice she was to me, but now I have to deal with this when I leave,” the woman said.

She then walked out, blocked her date and went shopping at Nordstrom Rack.

Woman Said She Was Not Looking for Someone to Pay Her Bills

Looking back, the woman said she had spent money on several things that day, including renewing her car registration and nursing license, buying school supplies and clothes for her son, filling her gas tank and getting a pedicure and coffee.

She asked why her date would think she was getting dressed up and making an effort to go out if she needed him to pay for the $17 meal.

She said she was no longer interested in dating and would rather pay for her own expenses than go through that again.
