Sno Pac Foods, Inc. has issued a voluntary recall of select batches of its Del Mar 35 LB Bulk Organic Frozen Spinach and Sno Pac 10-oz Organic Frozen Cut Spinach due to the potential presence of Listeria monocytogenes. The bacteria can cause serious or sometimes fatal infections in pregnant women, young children, the elderly, and individuals with weakened immune systems.

Recalled Products

The affected frozen spinach was distributed nationwide in retail stores and through distributors, involving several products and multiple lot codes.

  • Del Mar 35 LB Bulk Organic Frozen Spinach — Lot codes 250107A, 250107B, 250107C, 250107D, 2501071, 2501073 (Exp 1/7/27)
  • Sno Pac 10-oz Organic Frozen Cut Spinach — Lot codes SPM1.190.5 (Best By 7/9/27), SPC1.160.5 (Best By 6/9/27), SPC2.160.5 (Best By 6/9/27), SPM1.097.5 (Best By 4/7/27)

The FDA provided the following product images to help buyers find the lot codes on their packages.

Health Risks For Literia Can Affect Various Groups

Listeria monocytogenes infections can cause high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea in healthy people, and can lead to miscarriages or stillbirths among pregnant women. No illnesses have been reported so far.

It’s essential to remember that while Listeria can be killed by heating foods, the Australian-based Food Safety Information Council notes that it is also easy to re-contaminate the food with improper handling. For this reason, we always urge expecting mothers, parents with children at home, and the elderly to dispose of recalled products found to contain Listeria or return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.

Company Statement and Consumer Guidance

Sno Pac Foods said the recall was prompted after a bulk case of spinach from a supplier tested positive for Listeria and matched lot codes used in its repackaged products. Production of the spinach has been suspended while the company investigates the source of contamination.

Consumers who have purchased the affected products are urged to dispose of them immediately or return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.

Questions can be directed to Sno Pac Foods at (507) 725-5281 or by email at snopac@snopac.com, Monday – Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

This is also a good reminder that following the FDA and other agency recall pages can prevent unwanted illness and hospitalization. Less than a week ago, we reported on a nationwide recall of Scott & Jon’s Shrimp Scampi Linguini over a similar listeria scare.
