Disney Jr.’s preschool series welcomes Willa the Wildcat in an action-packed adventure.

Disney Jr.’s animated SuperKitties has surprised fans with a full-length special that introduces a brand-new hero to the team. Titled ‘The New SuperKitty,’ the special premiered on Disney Jr. on August 6, before arriving on Disney+ on August 7, giving preschool audiences another chance to join the feline superheroes in Kittydale.
The special sees Ginny, Sparks, Buddy and Bitsy put their newest friend to the test after villains Cat Burglar and the Glamsters team up to cause chaos throughout Kittydale. According to Disney, Willa proves she has what it takes before officially earning her place alongside the SuperKitties. A new music video, “Ready to Su-Purr Roar,” featuring Willa was also released alongside the special, with an extended version arriving on digital music platforms.
Meet Willa the Wildcat
Willa the Wildcat has been a recurring ally, but ‘The New SuperKitty’ marks the first time she officially joins the superhero squad. Living in the nearby Wild Jungle, Willa has repeatedly helped the team on missions, making her promotion a natural next step in the series.
Disney describes Willa as a courageous, adventurous wildcat whose strengths complement the existing team. As she learns to work alongside the others, young viewers are reminded that new teammates can bring fresh perspectives and unique talents. The special reinforces familiar SuperKitties themes of kindness, teamwork, problem-solving and believing in yourself.
Why SuperKitties Has Become a Preschool Favorite
Since premiering in 2023, SuperKitties has followed four ordinary kittens who transform into superheroes whenever trouble strikes in Kittydale. Rather than defeating villains through force, the heroes solve problems using compassion, cooperation and creative thinking—lessons designed for preschool-aged children, generally between 2 and 7 years old.
The show’s popularity continues to soar. According to Disney, SuperKitties has amassed more than 33.2 billion minutes viewed across linear television and streaming while generating nearly 500 million YouTube views, making it one of Disney Jr.’s biggest preschool franchises.
With Willa now officially part of the team—and more holiday-themed specials already announced for later this year—SuperKitties looks set to continue delighting young viewers while teaching valuable lessons about friendship, courage and helping others.
