A Washington woman claimed in a video that she realized her marriage lacked thoughtfulness and emotional care after she went on a work trip with a director at her company.

In a video posted on TikTok, the woman described feeling more valued and protected by a male co-worker than she did in her marriage.

“For 48 hours, I felt more physically respected and protected by a male coworker than I ever had felt inside my marriage,” she said.

The woman talked about a “pretty big realization” she had on her work trip in a two-minute-long video which was seemingly recorded in a car. She posted it on her account @ad29914.

Praising her co-worker’s chivalry, she said, “I watched the way that this man walked through the world with a woman next to him. He’d pause before doorways and motion for me to go ahead of him on sidewalks.”

In the first thirty seconds of the video, the woman said her co-worker was in his 50s and an ex-military man who was 6’4.

She further explained that her male co-worker “always knew” where she was during their work trip.

The woman also admired her co-worker changing directions when they encountered a transient guy while walking back to the hotel.

“I’m 5 foot 3. I kind of ducked behind him on the opposite side,” she said, admitting that she was walking in the opposite direction of that transient guy.

The woman recalled her co-worker saying, “Don’t do that,” after he found her taking cover behind him.

“It wasn’t controlling. It was protective. And that moment has stayed with me,” she added.

She also denied having “romantic interest” in him, and admitted he doesn’t have any for her either. The woman further clarified in the video that she sees her co-worker as a leader and a mentor whom she respects highly professionally at her company.

“Sometimes healing isn’t someone teaching you what you deserve,” she captioned her video post.

She also discussed how this experience made her realize that “healing happens” in little moments like that.

Notably, the woman said that when people witness something “so ordinary, normal to everybody else,” they truly start to understand how “abnormal the things” they learned to tolerate actually were.
