A woman said she knew she disliked her date within seconds of hugging him hello, only to spend the rest of the evening imagining a future together.
TikTok creator Becca Moore, username @becccamooore, shared the story in a video that has gained about 562,000 views. She joked that she can sometimes tell within three seconds that a man is not for her.
Three margaritas are enough to change that, per Moore.
Moore Knew Within Seconds of the Hug

Moore said the moment of doubt came while they were still hugging hello.
She said, “Guess what, every excuse already taken by every rom-com ever. Leave some for the rest of us. There are no excuses left. Oh, my roommate’s boyfriend broke up with her. Everyone knows that now. So now you have to sit there cause I know. And then you’re learning about someone you’re never going to see again.”
Instead, she said she ended up making small talk with someone she never planned to see again. She learned about his cousins and his favorite vacation spot. She even found herself acting as though they were already planning a trip together.
The Margaritas Changed Her Mind

Moore said the drinks first made the evening more bearable. By the third margarita, she said, “This person is awesome. After 3 margaritas with anyone, I honestly am like, should we be together?”
Moore acknowledged that her date could have mistaken her sudden enthusiasm for love bombing. From his side, she said, everything seemed to be going wonderfully, while she blamed the margaritas.
The Next Morning Brought a Text

Moore said, “The next day, I’m, like, waking up and I’m like, what the. I got a text from the date I was on the night before. And they’re like, hey, was wondering, do you want to come to the XYZ with my friends tonight?”
The invitation made the mismatch obvious, because he believed the night had gone far better than she remembered. She wondered why he would assume she wanted to see him again. She joked that she wanted to block him, until she remembered what had happened the night before.
“I’m the problem,” she said, admitting she had made out with him.
How Viewers Reacted

Her story struck a chord with viewers who had their own ways of escaping bad dates. One commenter said, “I straight up told a guy I wasn’t feeling him, called myself an Uber & left. My time is not owed to anyone.”
Another said, “This is why the idea of dinner for a first date terrifies me.” Another user noted, “This is why it’s a drink or coffee for a first meetup. It’s a pre-date.”
One viewer summed up the margarita effect by writing that everyone gets friendlier after three. “Normalize leaving uncomfortable situations,” another viewer commented.
