An Ohio woman said records error labeled her as African American in the state’s system, which she believes is why she kept getting pulled over while driving.

A woman named Lisa posted a video on Instagram and alleged, “This isn’t a story about pretending to be someone else. It’s about what happened when a government mistake put me in a place I never expected to be.”

Lisa said she was once held for hours in a holding cell, then began noticing she was often pulled over for speeding, but only when she drove her own car. She clarified she had no trouble in other vehicles.

Years later, a state highway patrolman stopped her on Interstate 275 and asked a question that caught her off guard. She said that the officer asked whether she was African American or mixed.

When she answered that she was white, he told her his computer system listed her as an “African American” woman.

“No, that’s not clickbait. It really happened,” Lisa revealed in another post.

Lisa’s posts have drawn a wave of responses from viewers, many of them stunned that a single records error could go unnoticed for so long.

One user wrote under one of her posts, “So this proves they are racially profiling people.”

Another commented, “lol you were just black on paper and you experienced a fraction of what it’s like.”

“Interesting that the software literally tells them if you’re African American before you even get pulled over,” a third wrote.

Lisa further added that the officer promised to correct the record but appeared to have added her as an alias instead. She said this left her with two identities in the state’s system without her knowing.

She added the classification also showed up in background checks for employment. She displayed records from the Hamilton County Clerk of Courts. Lisa further discussed that the state record was not corrected until she was 28.

Others echoed the sentiment, with one viewer posting, “It’s almost like they are judging you based on your race.Weird.”

She also described a stop in which she was handcuffed and placed in a patrol car to receive a speeding ticket. She also revealed that when she later tried to file a complaint, a front-desk worker looked at her file and was surprised by how she was listed.

Lisa said she assumed for years that her driving record was to blame.
