Disclosure: I received an Achy Paws Self-Warming Pet Mat as part of an advertorial.
My family includes two small dogs and one cat. With so many little animals running around, my house is littered with pet beds. During the coldest months of the year, I often find two or all three animals curled up together on a bed, snuggled together for warm. Thus, when recently offered a chance to review the Achy Paws Self-Warming Pet Mat, I eagerly accepted the opportunity.
I received a medium Achy Paws Self-Warming Pet Mat, which measures 30 inches by 20 inches. The size is perfect for one of my animals to spread out and also works great for two or three to cuddle up together. Achy Paws also offers the pet mat in small, large, extra large, and extra extra large sizes.
The Achy Paws Self-Warming Pet Mat features a unique self-warming fabric. The mat is triple-layered thick with an inner layer of 100% activated bamboo charcoal that self-warms when exposed to body each. The natural heat brings restorative warmth to achy joints, helps soothe tired muscles, reduces soreness, and melts away discomfort.
When I first opened my Achy Paws Self-Warming Pet Mat, I immediately noticed the soft texture of the material. My dogs love cuddling up on my soft fleece blankets, so I knew that the softness of the mat would attract both animals. I also learned that washing the mat is easy. Each pet mat is machine washable and dryable. And, to reverse any odors or airborne pollutants the fabric may have absorbed, simply place the mat in direct sunlight for an hour or longer once a month.
As far as the self-warming feature of the Achy Paws Self-Warming Pet Mat goes, I can personally attest to the gentle warmth that the mat produces. For test purposes, I actually curled up on the mat on the couch under a blanket. After a short while, I realized that I was getting quite warm. In other words, the Achy Paws Self-Warming Pet Mat really does warm up under body heat. Both my dogs and my cat will definitely enjoy the warmth of the mat once the cooler days of fall and colder days of winter come around again.
Final Verdict: I am very impressed with my Achy Paws Self-Warming Pet Mat. At $29.99 each, the medium size is a perfect alternative to more conventional pet beds. Plus, the pet mat offers the additional benefit of a self-warming activated bamboo charcoal inner layer that offers soothing heat to cold or achy animals. I can personally attest to the warming heat that the pet mat offers just from exposed the mat to body heat. If you are a pet parent, I highly recommend purchasing an Achy Paws Self-Warming Pet Mat!
