A is for alligator! Help your toddler learn about the letter A by making a fun alligator handprint craft.
Materials
- Dark green, light green, red, white, and black nontoxic paint
- Blank paper
- Paper plate or scrap cardboard
- Cotton ball
- Cotton swab or paintbrush
Instructions
- Pour some light green paint onto the cardboard.
- Use a cotton ball to spread a thin layer of light green paint on your child’s right hand.
- Press the light green handprint into the center left of the paper with the fingers together and the thumb pointing down.
- Wash the paint off your child’s hand.
- Use a cotton ball to spread a thin layer of light green paint on your child’s left hand.
- Press the light green handprint directly to the right of the first handprint with all the fingers and thumb together and pointing to the side.
- Wash the paint off your child’s hand.
- Use a cotton ball to spread a thin layer of light green paint on your child’s fingertip.
- Press four light green fingertip prints under the second handprint. Reapply the paint as needed.
- Wash the paint off your child’s finger.
- Pour some red paint onto the cardboard.
- Use a cotton ball to spread a thin layer of red paint on your child’s fingertip.
- Press one red fingertip print between the index finger and the thumb of the first handprint.
- Wash the paint off your child’s finger.
- Pour some dark green paint onto the cardboard.
- Use a cotton ball to spread a thin layer of dark green paint on your child’s fingertip.
- Press dark green fingertip prints on the top of the second handprint. Reapply the paint as needed.
- Wash the paint off your child’s finger.
- Pour some white paint onto the cardboard.
- Use a cotton ball to spread a thin layer of white paint on your child’s fingertip.
- Press a white fingertip print into the center of the first handprint.
- Wash the paint off your child’s finger.
- Pour some black paint onto the cardboard.
- Use a paintbrush to paint a black pupil in the center of the white fingerprint.
- Use a paintbrush to paint “A is for alligator” in dark green on the paper.
