Black Cat Paper Plate Craft

Black cats are synonymous with Halloween. Help your young crafter celebrate the holiday by making a simple but fun black cat paper plate craft.

Materials

  • Black, green, pink, and white nontoxic paint
  • White paper plate
  • Scrap cardboard
  • Craft glue
  • Paintbrushes
  • Scissors
  • Black marker
  • Small binder clips

Instructions

  1. Pour some black paint onto the cardboard.
  2. Paint the front of the paper plate with the black paint.
  3. Allow the black paint to dry thoroughly.
  4. Turn the plate over.
  5. Using the black marker, trace the center circle of the plate and then outline three triangles on one edge. (See image for template.)
  6. Cut out the circle and three triangles using the scissors.
  7. Pour a small amount of green paint onto the cardboard.
  8. Press two green fingertip print eyes onto the black circle.
  9. Wash the paint off your child’s finger.
  10. Pour a small amount of pink paint onto the cardboard.
  11. Press one pink fingertip print nose into the center of the black circle.
  12. Wash the paint off your child’s finger.
  13. Use a paintbrush to paint a cat’s mouth under the nose.
  14. Pour a small amount of white paint onto the cardboard.
  15. Use a paintbrush to paint whiskers onto the cheeks on both sides of the nose.
  16. Use craft glue to glue the black circle and one triangle onto the remaining paper plate as well as the two remaining triangles onto the black circle. Use the small binder clips to hold the pieces in place while the glue dries.
  17. Display the black cat paper plate craft!
