Earth Day Paper Plate Earth Collage Craft

Earth Day is a worldwide celebration held annually on April 22 to garner support for environmental protection. This year, as humanity continues to navigate the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, taking a moment to reflect on our impact on the planet is more important than ever. One simple way to celebrate Earth Day with children is to make a paper plate collage that reinforces cutting and gluing skills. You can encourage your kiddos to cut (or tear) the paper into small pieces that are then glued onto a paper plate to create a collage that represents the beauty of the planet.

This activity is a great way to reinforce fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and creativity while also promoting environmental awareness. By creating a visual representation of the earth, children can begin to understand the importance of protecting our planet and the impact that our actions can have on the environment. So, this Earth Day, take some time to celebrate the planet with a simple and fun paper plate collage that helps reinforce valuable skills and teaches children the importance of environmental protection. You can also pair the craft with an Earth Day book.

Did you know that Earth Day was first celebrated in 1970 and is now observed in more than 193 countries worldwide? This global movement began as a way to raise awareness about environmental issues such as air and water pollution and has since grown into a day of action to promote sustainable practices and protect the planet. In fact, Earth Day has been instrumental in inspiring many of the environmental policies and regulations we have today including the Clean Air Act, the Clean Water Act, and the Endangered Species Act.
