Exploring Science with 'Science with Stuff' Books

I am extremely serious about introducing my children to STEM topics during homeschool lessons, especially my daughter because of the current lack of women in STEM fields. Both she and my son are quite interested in science at the moment, and I want to foster that interest as much as possible. When recently offered the chance to review copies of Insect-o-mania!, Space-tacular!, Fossil-icious, and Bird-acious of the Science with Stuff series in exchange for my honest opinion, I eagerly accepted the opportunity to the science books and materials in my home library.

Insect-o-mania!

Book 4 of the Science with Stuff series, Insect-o-mania! written by Allyson Kulavis gives young learners a hands-on connection to science with a vivid exploration of insects. Fascinating pictures of creepy crawlies illustrate incredible factoids and amazing species for a thoroughly addictive read. The book comes with an awesome-looking insect captured in resin that is sure to thrill little insect lovers. The durable hardback book contains gorgeous photographs of all sorts of insects on thick, glossy paper.

My daughter and I have been studying insects as part of our recent kindergarten homeschool science lessons. Insect-o-mania! is recommended for first grade and up, but the book has been extremely useful for my four-year-old kindergartener. She can read quite a bit of the text herself, and I have been using the informative pages as reference material to supplement her learning. Both my kiddos enjoy looking at the insect captured in resin, especially my toddler son. I am impressed with both the quality of the hardback book and the resin bug. I anticipate using Insect-o-mania! for many years to come during homeschool lessons on insects!
