Handprint Four-Leaf Clover Toddler St. Patrick's Day Craft

When I tell my toddler daughter that she and I are making a craft together, she gets so excited. My favorite crafts to make for each holiday are handprint and footprint crafts. My daughter loves playing with the paint and then washing her hands and feet in the kitchen sink. I love creating a little keepsake that locks a little piece of my daughter in time. For St. Patrick’s Day this year, she and I made a handprint four-leaf clover.

Materials

  • Green nontoxic paint
  • Blank paper
  • Paper plate or scrap cardboard
  • Cotton ball
  • Cotton swab or paintbrush

Instructions

  1. Pour some green paint onto the cardboard.
  2. Use a cotton ball to spread a thin layer of green paint on your child’s left palm.
  3. Press the handprint in the upper left of the paper with the fingers pointing towards the corner.
  4. Reapply the green paint to the left hand.
  5. Press the handprint in the lower right of the paper with the fingers pointing toward the corner.
  6. Wash the paint off your child’s hand.
  7. Use a cotton ball to spread a thin layer of green paint on your child’s right palm.
  8. Press the handprint in the upper right of the paper with the fingers pointing towards the corner.
  9. Reapply the green paint to the right hand.
  10. Press the handprint in the lower left of the paper with the fingers pointing toward the corner.
  11. Wash the paint off your child’s hand.
  12. Use the cotton swab or paint brush to paint a stem onto the four-leaf clover.

Making handprint crafts is one of my favorite crafts to do with my daughter during the holidays. For St. Patrick’s Day this year, she and I made a handprint four-leaf clover.
