A TikTok user, @squuiidney shared a video claiming that “nursing is literally the craziest profession in the world.”
She detailed how a patient, who needed a rectal tube to do the lactulose enemas, thought under anesthesia that she was his wife. As per the nurse, the male patient was undergoing really bad alcohol withdrawal and had cirrhosis.
The nurse shared in the video that she runs a series, “You Gotta Be Kidding Me” where she posts videos describing some unhinged stories every single week. She noted that this is her fourth episode.
The video was over three minutes long. It gathered over 500K views, 779 comments and 12.3K shares.
Nurse Detailed The Situation Went Awkward Quickly
In the video, the nurse discussed that an erectile tube goes up the rectum so that they can flush the enema into the patient.
“So we’re trying to wake up the patient to tell him, like ‘Hey you know we’re gonna be sticking something up your rectum.’ But he is pretty out of it,” she detailed the procedure.
Revealing that the male patient was under anesthesia, they did the procedure.
“As any sane nurse would say, I go and I turn on the side and right. As I go and you know, start to enter this man’s rectum, he finally wakes up and he calls me his wife’s name,” she continued.
The nurse shared was accompanied by her co-worker when the man said, “Honey not tonight,” adding, “My co-worker and I just make dead eye contact and we’re just like, ‘You know, you’re in the hospital’… Trying to reorient him.”
The nurse revealed that during the procedure, the male patient started “giggling and laughing” because he didn’t know where he was.
“He’s very confused,” she added.
Nurse Revealed The Room Turned Into Chaos
Although the patient was confused, the nurse said she was not judging him. “No judgment here, no judgment for me here,” she added.
She then added that they let him go back to being sedated. However, an hour and a half later, she revealed she got a call and was asked to come back and take a look at the patient.
“I go into the room, and the patient is on all fours, like a dog or a cat, and he is trying to poop out the rectal tube,” she recalled.
She revealed that the rectal tube was first attached, but the man ended up removing it.
“This man poops out the rectal tube and it flies. It literally hits the wall in an absolute s— storm goes absolutely everywhere, like I’m talking it literally is like a geyser and it shoots onto the wall essentially,” she added.
She concluded her video saying that she doesn’t know a profession that is as unhinged as her, adding, “It was just a sight to be seen.”
