Hailey Bieber recently reflected on her postpartum journey.
In a recent interview, the 29-year-old opened up about experiencing premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD) after welcoming her son, Jack Blue Bieber with her husband, Justin Bieber.
“I feel really drawn to women’s health,” the Rhode Beauty founder said.
She admitted that the lack of research into women’s health has also impacted her own life, adding, “As a woman, I feel frustrated by the lack of research, the lack of awareness, the lack of certain conversation around it.”
Hailey Bieber Said Her Struggle With PMDD Was ‘Intense’

Speaking about her own experience with PMDD after having a child of her own, she added, “That was just a really intense and special journey that I had.”
“There’s so much that happens when you are pregnant, during childbirth. There’s so many things that happen leading up to having a child,” Hailey explained.

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Office on Women’s Health described PMDD as similar to premenstrual syndrome (PMS). However, it is more intense and often occurs within two weeks before the menstrual cycle begins. It causes symptoms like severe depression, irritability and tension.
Notably, Hailey’s company, Rhode Beauty, has reportedly committed to a three-year and $5 million partnership with the Foundation for Women’s Health.
Hailey Bieber Revealed ‘Conversation’ Makes Her Feel Less Alone

The American model recalled that after she had her son, Jack, who is now 2 years old, she struggled with the health problem a bit, adding, “and there’s just not a lot of conversation or research around it.”
She discussed how having “conversation” about the struggles makes her feel less alone.
“When we can identify with each other and have conversations relating to each other and talking about the things we’re dealing with and struggling with, I do think it makes it feel like less of a lonely journey,” she added.
