A woman shared a video on her account, @lostinatlantis1 and revealed that her first date began with an offer to pay, but ended with her covering her own food and sharing a table.
In a video posted on TikTok, she said she went out on a date with a man the night before. He had told her ahead of time that he would cover the date.
“If I invite somebody out and I’m covering it, I’m gonna be generous,” she said in the video.
“I’m gonna be like, get whatever you want,” she further added.
Woman Revealed Disappointment over Date

The woman detailed how her date went in the video. She said that man ordered one meal and told her, “That’s all I’m ordering, we can split it.”
She added he never asked what she wanted to eat or whether she was comfortable sharing.
“I had to eat off his plate,” she explained.
She said she tried to give him the benefit of the doubt, thinking he might not be very hungry, then partway through dinner, but revealed he told her something else.

When they went for a movie afterward, the man asked her not to order any food or drink, because he would not be paying for it.
She said she probably would not have ordered anything anyway because the timing bothered her.
“Just telling someone that mid-dinner, that’s so tacky,” she said.
She further revealed that at the theater the man announced he could not sit through the movie without a drink and bought himself a soda. Then he offered to share it with her.
Man Wanted To Share Drink on First Movie Date

“I just met you, and I don’t even share straws with my best friend,” she recalled telling the man.
She added that she does not drink soda and said he never asked whether she wanted a bottle of water.
By the end of the night, she revealed that the man had paid for one thing. Which was her $12 movie ticket.
“Didn’t buy my meal, didn’t get me a soda, didn’t nothing,” she complained.
She closed the video by asking viewers whether this was normal in modern dating.

While a short message before the date, such as “dinner’s on me” or “let’s split it,” can head off a surprise at the table, in this case, the woman said the confusion started with the word “cover.”
She took it to mean he would pay for the evening.
