Disney is giving families a new reason to celebrate the holidays with Mickey’s Home Alone, an animated Christmas special starring Mickey Mouse and Pluto. The upcoming Disney Jr. production puts a family-friendly spin on one of the most beloved Christmas movies of all time. The animated special premieres Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 26, 2026, at 6 p.m. EST/PST on Disney Jr.
Families who prefer streaming can watch the special on Disney+ beginning Friday, November 27. Disney Channel will also air an encore on November 30 at 7 p.m., followed by another broadcast on Freeform’s “25 Days of Christmas” lineup on December 19.
The special features original songs, including “Ho-Ho-Home for Christmas” and “Favorite Christmas Feeling,” alongside a new arrangement of “Jingle Bells.” The music will also be available through a digital soundtrack EP.
Mickey’s Home Alone Brings a Holiday Classic to Disney
The story begins with Mickey excited to spend Christmas at home. However, Minnie surprises him and the gang with tickets to a world-famous Ice Palace, and the family’s hurried departure leaves Mickey and Pluto behind.
The duo soon discovers that their Christmas dinner is in danger when two mischievous villains, a raccoon and a weasel, attempt to steal their holiday feast. Mickey and Pluto must protect their home while Minnie and the others try to make their way back.
The special draws inspiration from the 1990 film Home Alone, starring Macaulay Culkin as Kevin McCallister. Like the original movie, the story centers on an unexpected holiday separation and the challenges of defending a home from unwanted visitors.
The History of Mickey’s Christmas Specials
Mickey Mouse has been a holiday entertainment staple for generations, with Disney producing Christmas-themed cartoons and specials featuring the iconic character. One of the most recognizable is Mickey’s Christmas Carol, the 1983 animated adaptation of Charles Dickens’ classic holiday story.
The special stars Scrooge McDuck as Ebenezer Scrooge, with Mickey playing Bob Cratchit. It was the first theatrical Mickey Mouse short produced in more than 30 years and helped introduce the character to a new generation.
Disney has continued expanding its holiday offerings through television specials, animated shorts, and streaming releases. Mickey’s Home Alone continues that tradition, combining familiar characters with a new Christmas adventure designed for today’s families.
