LEGO fans have a new reason to sing along: LEGO Friends: Heartlake The Musical is the first live-action musical special inspired by the popular toy line. The 50-minute adventure follows Daisy, a creative teenager adjusting to a big move and searching for a place where she belongs.
After discovering the imaginative world of Heartlake City, Daisy meets new friends and becomes part of a mission to save a beloved local Tree House. The story features friendship, self-expression, and plenty of music, with four original songs and energetic dance numbers.
The production is executive produced by filmmaker Kenny Ortega, known for his work on musical projects, and directed and choreographed by Paul Becker. LEGO describes the special as an uplifting story celebrating “the power of friendship, creativity and self-expression.”
How the Musical Connects to the LEGO Friends Toy Line
The LEGO Friends line first launched in 2012, introducing children to Heartlake City and a cast of characters whose adventures revolve around friendship, creativity and everyday experiences. Over the years, the brand has expanded beyond building sets into animated shows, books and digital entertainment.
The musical takes that familiar play world into live action, allowing characters and locations from the LEGO Friends universe to appear on screen with real performers. Its story also reflects the imaginative role-playing at the heart of the toys: children can build their own settings, invent characters and create adventures with friends.
For families already familiar with the LEGO Friends sets, the special offers another way to explore Heartlake City. And for newcomers, it provides an introduction to the characters and themes that have helped make the line a long-running favourite.
