Paper Plate Bird Craft

My daughter and I love making crafts together. For a fun spring activity that fit perfectly into a preschool lesson on birds, she and I recently made a paper plate bird craft.

Materials

  • Paper plate
  • Colored paper
  • Yarn
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • Google eyes

Directions

  1. Cut some colored paper into small squares.
  2. Cut some orange paper into a triangle.
  3. Cut some yarn into 6-inch pieces.
  4. Knot the yarn together at one end.
  5. Fold the paper plate in half.
  6. Glue the orange triangle onto one side of the fold.
  7. Glue the knotted yarn into the other side of the fold.
  8. Cut some colored paper into long strips.
  9. Glue the paper plate together.
  10. Glue the colored squares onto both sides of the folder paper plate.
  11. Cut a small slit into the center of the paper plate near the fold.
  12. Fold another sheet of colored paper into an accordion.
  13. Slip the folder paper through the slit and secure.
  14. Glue two google eyes onto both sides of the folder plate near the orange triangle.
  15. Display the paper plate bird craft.
