S is for spider! Help your toddler learn about the letter S by making a fun spider handprint craft.
Materials
- Black, red, and white nontoxic paint
- Blank paper
- Paper plate or scrap cardboard
- Cotton ball
- Cotton swab or paintbrush
Instructions
- Pour some black paint onto the cardboard.
- Use a cotton ball to spread a thin layer of black paint on your child’s right hand excluding the thumb.
- Press the handprint with the fingers apart onto the paper.
- Wash the paint off your child’s hand.
- Use a cotton ball to spread a thin layer of black paint on your child’s left hand excluding the thumb.
- Press the handprint with the fingers apart and the palm overlapping the first palm onto the paper.
- Wash the paint off your child’s hand.
- Pour some red paint onto the cardboard.
- Use a cotton ball to spread a thin layer of red paint on your child’s fingertip.
- Press a red fingertip print into the center of the palm prints.
- Wash the paint off your child’s finger.
- Pour some white paint onto the cardboard.
- Use a cotton ball to spread a thin layer of white paint on your child’s fingertip.
- Press two white fingertip prints onto the black handprint above the red fingertip print. Reapply the paint as needed.
- Wash the paint off your child’s finger.
- Use a paintbrush to paint “S is for spider” in black on the paper.
