I love mashed potatoes. In fact, the recipe that my grandmother always used to make her special mashed potatoes is one of my favorite recipes ever as well as one of my favorite Thanksgiving food recipes. Although I attempted to prepare a different potato recipe last year, this year I am returning to my old favorite. However, if you are looking some yummy Thanksgiving vegetable recipes for your Thanksgiving Day dinner, I highly suggest trying one of the following simple but delicious recipes for mashed potatoes.
For more traditional Thanksgiving food recipes, try the following recipe for classic mashed potatoes:
Classic Mashed Potatoes
Ingredients
- 5 pounds of white potatoes
- 1/2 cup of whole milk
- 1 stick of butter
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- 1/8 teaspoon of pepper
Directions
- Wash, peel, and chop the potatoes.
- Place the chopped potatoes in a large pot of water.
- Boil until the potatoes are tender.
- Drain.
- Place the cooked potatoes and other ingredients in a large mixing bowl.
- Mash until smooth.
- Serve hot.
- Refrigerate any uneaten mashed potatoes.
For Thanksgiving vegetable recipes with a little more flair, try the following recipe for seasoned mashed potatoes:
Seasoned Mashed Potatoes
Ingredients
- 5 pounds of white potatoes
- 1 8-ounce package of cream cheese
- 1 stick of butter
- 1/2 cup of whole milk
- 1 tablespoon of seasoned salt
- 1 teaspoon of pepper
- 1 teaspoon of onion salt
Directions
- Wash, peel, and chop the potatoes.
- Place the chopped potatoes in a large pot of water.
- Boil until the potatoes are tender.
- Drain.
- Soften the cream cheese in a large mixing bowl.
- Add the cooked potatoes and other ingredients to the mixing bowl.
- Mash until smooth.
- Serve hot.
- Refrigerate any uneaten seasoned mashed potatoes.
For some cheesier Thanksgiving food recipes, try the following recipe for cheddar cheese mashed potatoes:
Cheddar Cheese Mashed Potatoes
Ingredients
- 5 pounds of white potatoes
- 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup of whole milk
- 1 stick of butter
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- 1/8 teaspoon of pepper
Directions
- Wash, peel, and chop the potatoes.
- Place the chopped potatoes in a large pot of water.
- Boil until the potatoes are tender.
- Drain.
- Add the shredded cheddar cheese to a large mixing bowl.
- Pour the cooked potatoes over the cheese.
- Allow the cheese to melt.
- Add the other ingredients to the mixing bowl.
- Mash until smooth.
- Serve hot.
- Refrigerate any uneaten cheddar cheese mashed potatoes.
