Thumbprint Pumpkin Patch Craft

For each holiday of the year, my daughter and I love making festive crafts. In honor of Halloween and autumn, she and I recently made some adorable and simple thumbprint pumpkin patches that now adorn my dining room wall. My daughter had an especially fun time making her pumpkin craft almost all by herself!

Materials

  • Blank paper
  • Green and orange nontoxic paint
  • Green and black markers
  • Scrap cardboard

Instructions

  1. Draw long lines across the blank paper with the green marker.
  2. Pour a small amount of green paint on the scrap cardboard.
  3. Dip your thumb in the green paint.
  4. Press green thumbprints along the green lines to form pumpkin vine leaves. Reapply the paint as needed.
  5. Wash the paint off your thumb.
  6. Pour a small amount of orange paint on the scrap cardboard.
  7. Dip your thumb in the orange paint.
  8. Press orange thumbprints among the green thumbprints to form pumpkins. Reapply the paint as needed.
  9. Wash the paint off your thumb.
  10. Allow the paint to try completely.
  11. Use the black marker to draw Jack o’ lantern faces on the orange thumbprints.
