The first trailer for LEGO Star Wars: The Mandalorian has arrived, offering families a hilarious new take on the adventures of Din Djarin and Grogu. The animated special premieres September 2 on Disney+, and its combination of LEGO humor, action and familiar Star Wars characters makes it a natural choice for kids, families and longtime fans.

The special is officially described as being “perfect for Star Wars and LEGO fans of all ages,” although younger children may get the most mileage from its broad comedy and colorful animation. Rather than continuing the story with a completely new adventure, the special revisits the major events of all three seasons of The Mandalorian.

Mando and Grogu, LEGO-Style

The new special retells the Mandalorian saga as a comedy, following the unlikely partnership between bounty hunter Din Djarin and his adorable Force-sensitive companion, Grogu. The voice cast includes Shelby Young, Amy Sedaris, Bill Burr, Taika Waititi, Timothy Olyphant, Rosario Dawson and Eric Bauza, bringing a mix of new performances and familiar Mandalorian personalities to the LEGO universe.

That approach should make the special particularly accessible to families who know Grogu but haven’t necessarily watched every episode of the live-action series. The LEGO format also gives Lucasfilm room to poke fun at some of the more dramatic moments from Mando’s journey without losing the recognizable characters and worlds.

From Disney+ Hit to LEGO Adventure

The Mandalorian premiered on Disney+ in November 2019, introducing audiences to Din Djarin, a lone Mandalorian bounty hunter whose life changes when he encounters Grogu. The series ultimately ran for three seasons and helped turn Grogu—better known to many casual fans as “Baby Yoda”—into one of the biggest characters in the modern Star Wars universe.

The franchise has now expanded to the big screen with The Mandalorian and Grogu, which opened in theaters May 22, 2026, with Pedro Pascal returning as Din Djarin.

With the movie and LEGO special both arriving on Disney+ September 2, families are about to get two very different ways to experience the galaxy’s most unlikely father-and-son-style duo.
