Tomiko Harvey, a travel marketer and digital creator, posted a short clip of the teary-eyed moment of what happened on a flight.
Her post on Instagram from October 9 drew over 26 k followers’ attention and did not stay in her corner.
“I refused to give up my aisle seat because a lady missed her husband. The ultimate white tears on a long haul flight from Istanbul to DC,” she captioned the post.
Woman Cried on Flight For 3 Hours To Sit With Husband

The 55-year-old travel blogger from Richmond, Virginia, said a fellow passenger asked her to hand over her aisle seat on a connecting flight of more than 10 hours between Istanbul and Washington, D.C.
Harvey said the woman wanted her aisle seat so the couple could sit together. The swap would have put Harvey in a middle seat for the entire flight.
“To be clear, she was not offering to move herself,” Harvey wrote.
She revealed that the woman’s husband was two rows ahead in a middle seat.

Harvey said the woman did not take the answer well.
“She cried for 3 hours,” Harvey wrote in her post.
She said she finally asked whether someone had died. The woman told her nobody had.
According to Harvey, the woman just missed her husband and wanted to rest her head on his shoulder. She further revealed he was “sleeping in heavenly peace the entire flight.”
In a follow-up video, Harvey explained that she picked the aisle to avoid climbing past a neighbor on trips to the lavatory. She also said she was flying home from Kazakhstan because her father had died.
Commentators Sided With Harvey after She Denied Aisle Seat Swap

Viewers sided heavily with Harvey. One commenter noted that both travelers held middle seats, which usually means the lowest fare.
“Yeah, nahhh, not on a 10-hour flight. Lady, please!” one person wrote.
Another commenter put the blame on the couple’s planning.

As the plane touched down, Harvey said she had one last thing to say to the lady.
“Good job. Look at you surviving without your husband for 10 hours,” she wrote in her post.
She later joked that she needed to reevaluate her own marriage because she clearly did not love her husband enough.
