Bacon Cheddar Cheese Ball Recipe

Cheddar Bacon Cheese Ball Recipe

Yesterday I prepared a delicious cheddar bacon cheese ball as an appetizer for Thanksgiving. My recipe is incredibly easy. I started by frying the bacon. Because I was just going to crumble the bacon anyway, I just plopped the entire package in a frying pan and fried the bacon up. The key to frying the bacon for this recipe is to make sure the bacon is absolutely crispy. Chewing bacon is just no good in a cheese ball! To ensure that my bacon was cooked to a crisp, I drained away the bacon fat halfway through frying and then drained the fat again at the end.

While the bacon was cooking, I softened the cream cheese in a bowl. All I did was put the bowl in the microwave for about twenty seconds. I then added the mayonnaise and shredded cheddar cheese to the bowl. My husband was kind enough to help me by grating the block of cheese for me.

I then dumped the cooked bacon onto a pile of paper towels and blotted away as much remaining grease as I could. I also used the blotting process as a way to begin crumbling the crispy bacon. Then I added the bacon to the bowl of cream cheese and stirred. I stirred and stirred until all the bacon was smooshed up into little pieces and all of the ingredients were combined. Finally I transferred the finished cheese ball to a pretty serving ball. For the sake of simplicity, I am just serving this appetizer in a bowl this year; however, you always have the option of making one or more cheese balls from the mixture. Bon appetite!
