I love cheese! On special occasions such as Thanksgiving, I love eating crackers with cheese from a cheese ball. Although cheese balls can be bought from the store, a homemade one tastes even better. So, if you are looking for some recipes for appetizers for Thanksgiving dinner, try one or more of the following cheese ball recipes.
For some more classic appetizers for Thanksgiving dinner, try a bacon and green onion cheese ball served with crackers:
Bacon and Green Onion Cheese Ball
Ingredients
- 2 8-ounces packages of cream cheese
- 1 pound of bacon
- 1 green onion
- 3 tablespoons of mayonnaise
Directions
- Allow the cream cheese to soften.
- Cook the bacon until crispy.
- Chop the cooked bacon and green onion until finely chopped.
- Combine the softened cream cheese, bacon, green onion, and mayonnaise.
- Form the mixture into a ball.
- Refrigerate for three to four hours before serving.
- Refrigerate any uneaten bacon cheese ball.
For an extra cheesy bacon cheese ball, try serving a bacon and cheddar cheese ball with your Thanksgiving Day food:
Bacon and Cheddar Cheese Ball
Ingredients
2 8-ounces packages of cream cheese
- 1 pound of bacon
- 2 cups of shredded cheddar cheese
- 3 tablespoons of mayonnaise
Directions
- Allow the cream cheese to soften.
- Cook the bacon until crispy.
- Chop the cooked bacon until finely chopped.
- Combine the softened cream cheese, bacon, shredded cheddar cheese, and mayonnaise.
- Form the mixture into a ball.
- Refrigerate for three to four hours before serving.

If your family or friends like the unique flavor of blue cheese, prepare a blue cheese ball as one of your appetizers for Thanksgiving dinner:
Blue Cheese Ball
Ingredients
- 2 8-ounces packages of cream cheese
- 1 cup of crumbled blue cheese
- 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/4 cup minced white onion
- 1 tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce
Directions
- Allow the cream cheese to soften.
- Combine the softened cream cheese with other ingredients.
- Form the mixture into a ball.
- Refrigerate for three to four hours before serving.
Finally, for some more sophisticated appetizers for Thanksgiving dinner, try serving up a yummy feta cheese ball with a garlic flavor:
Feta Cheese Ball
Ingredients
2 8-ounces packages of cream cheese
- 4 ounces of crumbled feta cheese
- 4 tablespoons of olive oil
- 5 green onions
- 3 cloves of garlic
- 4 teaspoons of dried dill weed
- 2 teaspoons of dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon of black pepper
Directions
- Allow the cream cheese to soften.
- Finely chop the green onion and garlic.
- Combine the softened cream cheese with other ingredients.
- Form the mixture into a ball.
- Refrigerate for three to four hours before serving.
Cheese balls just scream of the holidays for me. Because I am preparing the Thanksgiving Day food this year, I will be making one or more of these delicious cheese balls as one of my appetizers for Thanksgiving dinner. Hint, hint: The bacon and cheddar cheese ball is my favorite!
