This game is played nearly as much as Mario Kart Deluxe in our house. That’s impressive considering Mario Kart Deluxe is among the top of our list for the Best Nintendo Switch Games For Kids. Somehow, I managed to buy this title for Switch and PS5, and it gets played on both!

My son loves building things in general, and combining track building with racing is the best of both worlds for him. My seven-year-old gets a bit frustrated with this title, but she’s starting to get the hang of it the more she plays.

This was my oldest child’s first foray into a Sims-type game, and she already seems like a fan thanks to the attention to detail that has been packed into this popular title.

Goofy humor, fast gameplay, and wacky animations make this party game instantly appealing. It’s great for quick bursts of fun with friends or siblings. I can’t possibly explain how much my children love mini-games. If you hand them a title with a main storyline and 50 mini-games, there’s a good chance the storyline will never be completed. Rabbids makes some of the best mini-games to play with kids, and my kids love about 90% of the available options.
Disney Epic Mickey: Rebrushed (Ages 10+)

My other children are not Mickey fans, and this game failed to keep their attention.

It’s weird in the best Way — silly, stylish, and easy to pick up. Turn-based battles and humorous dialogue keep the gameplay light and enjoyable. My 13-year-old daughter loves this female-led fantasy game, although it is somewhat short in terms of playtime. I liked introducing her to an RPG that feels like the old retro games I played back in the 1990s. I thought this was an odd choice to put among the best PS5 games for kids, but my daughter assured me girls her age will love it if they are into role-playing games.

While the rating for this game is 10+, it’s actually among my seven-year-old’s all-time favorites. She loves the animation, the simplicity of the 2D platform, and the puzzles she has to solve to progress in the game. I wish more people played this game because I truly believe it’s one of the best PS5 games for kids who love a more traditional type of game design.
Costume Quest 2 (Ages 10+)

My seven-year-old daughter loves Costume Quest 2, while my other kids gave it a try but couldn’t get into the story and general gameplay.

Soul-jumping into animals is playful and fun, while the story and exploration encourage emotional engagement and discovery. It’s educational and magical at the same time. My kids are all animal lovers, and they’ve all played this game multiple times, requiring me to pull them away from the game when their daily gaming time was up. I believe Tchia is among the most beautifully told stories on our list of the best PS5 games for kids.
Gunfire Reborn (Ages 13+)

If you have a kid who likes Roguelites and looter shooter type games, this is a fun and quirky option that my 10-year-old son can play for hours. The game features a wide range of weapons and is easy to learn, thanks to its simplistic controls and straightforward gameplay.
