Cream Cheese Jam Cookies Recipe

Last year I added a yummy cream cheese jam cookie to my list of favorite Christmas cookies. Making the cookies is a bit tricky and a little time consuming, but the end result is a light and delicious holiday treat. Just be sure to pinch the unbaked cookie dough together firmly, or the cookies pop open during baking.

Ingredients

  • 2 sticks of butter
  • 2 1/2 cups of whole wheat flour
  • 8 ounces of cream cheese
  • 1 jar of jam

Directions

  1. Soften the butter and cream cheese.
  2. Cream together the softened cream cheese and butter in a medium mixing bowl.
  3. Slowly fold in the flour.
  4. Wrap the cookie dough in plastic and refrigerate for 15 to 20 minutes.
  5. Preheat the oven to 375°.
  6. Cut the chilled dough into smaller sections.
  7. Roll each section between two layers of wax paper until slightly thinner than a pie crust. Keep the rest of the dough refrigerated.
  8. Peel away the top layer of wax paper.
  9. Use a round glass or cookie cutter to cut the dough into circles.
  10. Fill each circle with 1/4 teaspoon of jam.
  11. Fold the circles over the jam and pinch together firmly.
  12. Place the folded cookies onto an ungreased cookie sheet.
  13. Bake for 20 minutes or until lightly golden.
  14. Immediately remove the baked cookies from the cookie sheet and allow to cool.
  15. Store the cream cheese jam cookies in an airtight container.
