Elle King recently opened up about her complicated and strained relationship with her father, actor Rob Schneider, during an appearance on Bunnie XO’s Dumb Blonde podcast. The “Ex’s & Oh’s” singer didn’t hold back while discussing her toxic dynamic with Schneider.
Elle, the daughter of former model London King and comedian Rob Schneider, has previously talked about the periods of estrangement she’s experienced with her father. During the podcast, she revealed they can go “four or five years” without speaking. She also mentioned receiving angry calls from Schneider when she spoke publicly about their relationship.
Recalling her childhood, Elle described a lonely upbringing where her summers were spent on her father’s movie sets. She said, “If I ever messed up a shot or was talking, I would get in f***ing trouble,” noting that they didn’t really connect as father and daughter until much later in her life.
Body Shaming And Fat Camp
Elle also shared painful memories of being body-shamed by Schneider, who sent her to a “fat camp” to lose weight when she was a child. “I was a really, really heavy child. My dad sent me to fat camp,” she recounted. “And then I got in trouble one year because I sprained my ankle and didn’t lose any weight. Very toxic and very silly.” She also mentioned how Schneider was “very anti-tattoos” and would allegedly force her to cover up her body, even in hot weather, to hide her tattoos.
Politics Have Also Separated Elle King From Rob Schneider
The tension between them isn’t just personal; it’s also political. Elle distanced herself from her father’s controversial remarks about the Olympics, where he criticized a portion of the ceremony for featuring drag queens and allegedly disrespecting Christianity. She made it clear that they do not share the same political beliefs, saying, “I disagree with a lot of the things that he says. You’re talking out of your a** and you’re talking sh*t about drag and, you know, anti-gay rights… get f***ed.”

Nepotism Claims And Realizing She Can’t Change Her Dad
Elle also dismissed the notion that she benefited from nepotism in her career, explaining that she and her father “weren’t even speaking” when she signed her music label deal. She emphasized that Schneider “never” helped her and that she didn’t want his help, going as far as to say, “I don’t wanna be associated with him.”
Reflecting on her relationship with her father, Elle admitted that while he often frustrates her, she’s learned that she can’t change him. “You can want someone to change so much… all you can control is how you react and what you do with your feelings. And sometimes I f***ing boil up, and I boil over, and I f***ing bust my lid,” she said.
