Ergobaby Omni 360 All-in-One Baby Carrier Review

Ergobaby Omni 360 All-in-One Baby Carrier Review

After the birth of my daughter almost six years ago, I tried a number of different carriers, wraps, and slings for babywearing. When my son came around three years ago, I knew that I wanted to wear him right from birth, but I had not been entirely happy with my current options. After much research and crowdsourcing, I found that a soft-structure all-in-one carrier worked best for me. Now that I am expecting my third baby, I am excited to review the new Ergobaby Omni 360 Carrier. I received an Omni 360 Baby Carrier All-In-One in Midnight Blue from Ergobaby in exchange for my honest opinion.

Performance

At not quite 5’1″ tall, I am quite the petite woman. My torso is also on the short side. My husband, on the other hand, is 5’10” tall. One problem that I encountered while shopping for carriers is that many styles of baby carriers do not accommodate short torsos on short women. Then, when I did find a carrier that fit me, I could not share with my husband. I was therefore super excited to receive the Ergobaby Omni 360 Baby Carrier All-In-One. Both my husband and I can use the same carrier with a few adjustments.

I am currently seven months pregnant with my third baby. My son, who is a little peanut, is almost three years old and weighs approximately 27 pounds. While I cannot wear him in the front carry position at the moment, I am still able to comfortable wear him on my back with the Omni 360. I especially appreciate the lumbar support waistband, which comfortably fits across my lower abdomen when I wear my son in the back carry position. The wide waistband distributes the weight of my toddler evenly across my lower torso.

Setting up the Omni 360 Baby Carrier All-In-One for back carry is fairly simple. Following the directions in the instruction manual, I was easily able to set the carrier up to fit me and my son. If you are new to babywearing, you might need a second pair of hands to help put your child in the back carry position, especially if your child is on the bigger side. I am quite experienced with putting my son on my back on my own, and I can easily put him in the Omni 360 on my own. Because of the ergonomic design, my son sits comfortably on my back while the carrier distributes his weight evenly across my body. Compared to lugging around a heavy book bag, I consider an older toddler in the Omni 360 more comfortable. I therefore highly recommend the all-in-one from Ergobaby to any parent or caregiver who wants to back carry a toddler.

When I originally began researching soft-structured carrier, I knew that I wanted a model that converted between front carry and back carry. The Ergobaby Omni 360 offers the versatility that my family needs. On a recent weekend trip to the zoo, my husband wore our son for the first time. I was able to quickly and easily adjust the size of the carrier up from the smallest fit to a larger fit for my husband. The various straps are super easy to adjust, so my husband and I can easily share a single baby carrier without too much hassle. I thus recommend the Omni 360 to families who plan to share one carrier among two or more adults.

While walking around the zoo, my husband wore our son in both the front carry forward-facing and front carry outward-facing positions. Converting between the two positions is as simple as switching the buttons for seat adjustment and then turning the child around. In both forward- and outward-facing positions, the carrier allows a child to sit comfortably, never in a position that results in potentially dangerous crotch-dangling. My husband was surprised at how comfortable he felt wearing out 27-pound son. My son also indicated that he was quite comfortable in both positions. All three of us there rate the Ergobaby Omni 360 extremely highly in terms of comfort for the wearer and the child.

I am very excited to continue wearing my second-born in the Omni 360 and even more excited to try out the Omni 360 Baby Carrier All-In-One with my third-born who is due sometime this November. Wearing my son while chasing my firstborn around was a lifesaver, and wearing my third baby while running after my older two kids will be an absolute necessity. I also love that my husband and I can share the carrier, which means that he and I can each wear a kiddo when necessary. Based on my current experience with my son in back carry and the input from my husband on the two front carry positions, I am confident that I can continue to comfortably wear my babies for many months and years to come!

Additional Features

In addition to the four carry positions offered by the Omni 360, the baby carrier also comes with a few extra features that go above and beyond the basic. First, the detachable pouch makes carry a few items around in the carrier super convenient. Instead of carrying a purse around too, I can place my phone, keys, and a few other must-haves in the pocket. I have already used the pocket to hold my phone, library card, and house keys when I walk up to our library with my kids. Although not a necessity, the datable pocket on the Ergobaby Omni 360 is a nice little perk that I will utilize often.

Finally, the baby privacy hood is an additional feature that I missed on my previous carrier. I often breastfed my son while wearing him, and the hood on the Omni 360 would have helped minimize distractions. The UPF 50+ also works as a sunshade, which I plan to use a lot next summer with my third-born. My kids and I head out-and-about quite often, and I am extremely serious about sun project. The hood, which conveniently folds up into a pocket on the front of the carrier, will make shading my infant from the harmful rays of the sun a little easier.

Final Verdict

If you are shopping for a versatile baby carrier that converts between front carry and back carry and offers both forward-facing and outward-facing in the front carry position, I highly recommend the Omni 360 Baby Carrier All-In-One from Ergobaby. The carrier is comfortable for both me and my husband despite our significant height difference. More importantly, the carrier fits my short torso. I have worn my toddler son on my back while my husband has worn him in the forward-facing and outward-facing front carry positions, and my son has indicated that he is quite comfortable. The carrier is also both easy to put on and easy to convert between carrying positions and sizes. I give the Omni 360 Baby five enthusiastic stars out of five.
