Do you love cookies? I sure do! And so do my kiddos. In my home, I do not forbid any foods but instead talk about anytime foods versus sometimes foods. Cookies are a sometimes food. When I do indulge my sweet tooth, I want a decadent cookie that tastes great. Earlier in the summer, I read a mouth-watering review of a line of gluten-free cookies from Goodie Girl Cookies on My Gluten-Free Miami. Intrigued by the delicious-looking treats, I contacted the brand about reviewing some gluten-free cookies in exchange for my honest opinion. I received a package with six varieties of cookies plus a Goodie Girl t-shirt.
About Goodie Girl Cookies
In 2010 on a whim and a dare, former New York City-based music marketing exec Shira Berk traded a corner office and high heels for spatula and quinoa flour in pursuit of the perfect gluten-free cookie. An untrained baker, Berk operated a café inside her children’s preschool when a fellow parent challenged her to create a gluten-free cookie modeled after the ones baked at the café. After 17 months, she finally developed a delicious gluten-free quinoa chocolate chip cookie that started to outsell traditional cookies at the café. She then cooked up a plan for a complete line of cookies that would break the gluten-free cookie mold. After creating a gluten-free version of the Thin Mints called Mint Slims, Goodie Girl Cookies received a full-page write-up in the New York Post. Berk left the café and set up in operations in Queens, finally joining up with Toufayan Bakeries to create the delicious Goodie Girl Cookies of today.
Toffee Chaos contain buttery bits of toffee, caramelized crispy rice, and mini chocolate chips. The gluten- and peanut-free cookies do contain eggs, milk, almonds, and soy. I love toffee, and found the light, crunchy texture of the Toffee Chao absolutely delectable. The crispy rice gives the cookies an almost candy bar crunch. Six bags currently cost $29.94, which comes to $4.99 a bag.
My dad loves oatmeal raisin cookies, so the Oatmeal Raisin hold a special place in my heart. The gluten- and peanut-free cookies are a scintillating update to a classic that will evoke fond memories that will wake up your taste buds with crunchy mounds of toasted oats, cinnamon, and raisins. My dad would have loved these tasty baked treats, and so do I! Six bags currently cost $29.94, which again comes to $4.99 a bag.
I have always loved Thin Mint Girl Scout cookies. Mint Slims are a gluten-free thin mint cookie with just the right amount of crispy mint covered in delectable chocolate. The interior crunches lightly, and the chocolate melts in my mouth. Six boxes cost $29.94, which is $4.99 each. If you love mint and chocolate, Mint Slims are a perfect baked treat!
As much as I love the Mint Slims, I enjoyed the Vanilla Slims even more. Just like the Mint Slims, the Vanilla Slims feature a crispy vanilla cookie coated in decadent dark chocolate. I was honestly surprised by this gluten-free vanilla cookie. The chocolate and vanilla melted in my mouth for a mix of flavors that satisfied my taste buds. I devoured almost the entire box by myself! Six boxes again cost $29.94, or $4.99 each.
Midnight Brownie is my second favorite flavor of Goodie Girl Cookies. I love chocolate, so the dark cocoa brownie packed with chunks of semi-sweet Belgium chocolate is the perfect gluten-free treat for me. The dark chocolate brownie cookie is not overly sweet and features a drier crispy texture that tastes perfect with a big glass of whole milk. Midnight Brownie reminds me of the chocolate part of an Oreo cookie, which is the only part that I like. I just wish that I had received more than one small Go-Pak! Six large bags currently cost $29.94, which comes to $4.99 a bag as well. Thirty-six Go-Paks cost $35.94, or $1 per pack.
Quinoa Chocolate Chunk
If I had to choose just one baked treat from Goodie Girl Cookies as my absolute favorite, I would pick the Quinoa Chocolate Chunk. Chocolate chip cookies are my favorite classic baked treat, and I absolutely love this gluten-free version. The cookie part is crispy and full of flavor while the chocolate chunks are large and plentiful. You would never even know that this cookie uses quinoa as part of the base flour. All you taste is delicious chocolate chip cookie at $29.94 for a six pack. Thirty-six Go-Paks cost $35.94, or $1 per pack.
If you are searching for some delicious gluten-free baked treats, look no further than Goodie Girl Cookies! The brand began in 2010 on a whim and a dare. All the delicious cookies are gluten-free and produced in peanut-free facilities. I absolutely loved all six flavors that I tried: Toffee Chaos, Oatmeal Raisin, Mint Slims, Vanilla Slims, Midnight Brownie, and Quinoa Chocolate Chunk. I honestly could not tell that any of the cookies were gluten free! Six packs of each variety currently cost $29.94, or $4.99 per bag, which I find reasonable for delectable specialty baked treats. The Quinoa Chocolate Chunk are my absolute favorite, but I really enjoyed all the varieties that I sampled. Goodie Girl Cookies are the perfect treat if you are looking for some delicious gluten-free cookies!
