Turkey Handprint Craft

My kids and I love making crafts together for the holidays. For our most recent Thanksgiving craft, my daughter and I made a turkey using handprints and construction paper.

Materials

  • Red, orange, yellow, green, and brown nontoxic paint
  • Blank paper
  • Brown, yellow, orange, and red construction paper
  • Wiggle eyes
  • Paper plate or scrap cardboard
  • Cotton ball
  • Glue
  • Scissors

Instructions

  1. Pour some red paint onto the cardboard.
  2. Use a cotton ball to spread a thin layer of red paint on your child’s hand.
  3. Press one red handprint on the bottom left of the paper.
  4. Wash the paint off your child’s hand.
  5. Pour some yellow paint onto the cardboard.
  6. Use a cotton ball to spread a thin layer of yellow paint on your child’s hand.
  7. Press one yellow handprint above the red handprint.
  8. Wash the paint off your child’s hand.
  9. Pour some green paint onto the cardboard.
  10. Use a cotton ball to spread a thin layer of green paint on your child’s hand.
  11. Press one green handprint above the yellow handprint
  12. Wash the paint off your child’s hand.
  13. Pour some brown paint onto the cardboard.
  14. Use a cotton ball to spread a thin layer of brown paint on your child’s hand.
  15. Press one brown handprint below the green handprint
  16. Wash the paint off your child’s hand.
  17. Pour some orange paint onto the cardboard.
  18. Use a cotton ball to spread a thin layer of orange paint on your child’s hand.
  19. Press one orange handprint on the bottom right of the paper below the brown handprint
  20. Wash the paint off your child’s hand.
  21. Cut a large brown circle from the brown construction paper.
  22. Cut a smaller yellow circle from the yellow construction paper.
  23. Glue the yellow circle in the center of the brown circle.
  24. Cut an orange triangle and two legs from the orange construction paper.
  25. Cut a wiggly shape from the red construction paper.
  26. Glue two wiggle eyes on the top center of the yellow circle.
  27. Glue the orange triangle under the wiggle eyes.
  28. Glue the red wiggly shape next to the orange triangle.
  29. Glue the orange legs to the bottom of the brown circle.
  30. Glue the brown circle to the center of the handprints.
