T Is for Turkey Handprint Craft

T is for turkey! Help your toddler learn about the letter T by making a fun turkey handprint craft.

Materials

  • Red, orange, yellow, brown, and white nontoxic paint
  • Blank paper
  • Paper plate or scrap cardboard
  • Cotton ball
  • Cotton swab or paintbrush

Instructions

  1. Pour some red paint onto the cardboard.
  2. Use a cotton ball to spread a thin layer of red paint on your child’s hand.
  3. Press one red handprint on the bottom left of the paper.
  4. Reapply the red paint to your child’s hand.
  5. Press one red handprint on the bottom right of the paper.
  6. Wash the paint off your child’s hand.
  7. Pour some orange paint onto the cardboard.
  8. Use a cotton ball to spread a thin layer of orange paint on your child’s hand.
  9. Press one orange handprint above the red handprint on the bottom left of the paper.
  10. Reapply the orange paint to your child’s hand.
  11. Press one orange handprint above the red handprint on the bottom right of the paper.
  12. Wash the paint off your child’s hand.
  13. Pour some yellow paint onto the cardboard.
  14. Use a cotton ball to spread a thin layer of yellow paint on your child’s hand.
  15. Press the yellow handprint between the two orange handprints.
  16. Wash the paint off your child’s hand.
  17. Pour some brown paint onto the cardboard.
  18. Use a cotton ball to spread a thin layer of brown paint on your child’s hand excluding the thumb.
  19. Press the brown handprint under the yellow handprint with the fingers pointing down.
  20. Wash the paint off your child’s hand.
  21. Pour some white paint onto the cardboard.
  22. Use a cotton ball to spread a thin layer of white paint on your child’s fingertip.
  23. Press two white fingertip prints into the center of the palm of the brown handprint. Reapply the paint as needed.
  24. Wash the paint off your child’s finger.
  25. Pour some red paint onto the cardboard.
  26. Use a cotton ball to spread a thin layer of red paint on your child’s fingertip.
  27. Press one red fingertip print under the white fingertip prints.
  28. Wash the paint off your child’s finger.
  29. Use a paintbrush to paint two brown pupils in the centers of the white fingertip prints.
  30. Use a paintbrush to paint “T is for turkey” in brown on the paper.
