If your kid loves building, tinkering, robotics, or blowing up baking soda volcanoes just to “see what happens,” this one is worth your attention.
Netflix has officially announced SCHOOLED!, a brand-new student competition series hosted by former NASA engineer and viral science creator Mark Rober, and casting is now open.
The show drops student teams into a fully gamified “school” environment where they face off in increasingly ambitious science and engineering challenges. These aren’t small classroom experiments. Each round raises the stakes with bigger builds, creative problem-solving under pressure, and large-scale designs that test ingenuity and teamwork.
At its core, SCHOOLED! is about discovering the next generation of inventors, makers, and engineers. The winning team will take home a life-changing prize.
Rober says the goal is simple: give kids a stage big enough for their ideas.
“I couldn’t be more stoked to team up with Netflix and Jimmy Kimmel to bring SCHOOLED! to life. Our series is about giving kids a stage big enough for their ideas. This will be the ultimate playground for science, creativity, and competition to come together. I’m so pumped to see what these students come up with. My expectations are high. I’m ready to be blown away.”
What Parents Should Know
The series is produced by Rober’s company CrunchLabs in partnership with Kimmelot, founded by Jimmy Kimmel.
If your family has already watched Mark Rober’s CrunchLabs on Netflix, you’ve seen the kind of high-energy science spectacle he brings to the screen. That series pulled in over 12 million views within two months of its debut in November 2025, and more episodes are set to launch March 16.
Rober has also appeared in Elmo & Mark Rober’s Merry Giftmas and Skyscraper Live, building a growing footprint in Netflix’s family lineup.
According to John Derderian, Netflix’s Vice President of Animation Series and Kids & Family TV, the new series is designed as a co-viewing experience:
“Mark Rober is a master of the ‘wow’ moment… It isn’t just a competition; it’s a celebration of creativity and engineering. It’s exactly the kind of co-viewing experience that brings families together.”
Why This Could Be Big for STEM-Loving Kids
What stands out here isn’t just the spectacle — it’s the framing. This isn’t about memorizing formulas. It’s about creativity under pressure, fearless experimentation, and building something bold.
For kids who love Minecraft contraptions, robotics kits, Lego engineering builds, or DIY experiments in the garage, SCHOOLED! feels like a natural extension of that curiosity.
Casting is open now. Filming location and premiere date will be announced later.
If your child has ever said, “I could build that better,” this might be their moment. You can enter them for a chance to compete on the official CrunchLabs website.
