Christmas Tree Handprint-Fingerprint Craft

Christmas Tree Handprint-Fingerprint Craft

Now that my daughter is two years old, she really loves making handprint crafts with me. When she sees me bring out the craft supplies, she becomes incredibly excited about our most recent project. As a mother, I also love making crafts with her, especially handprint crafts that lock a small piece of her in time. If you are looking for a fun craft to make with your child this holiday season, try my Christmas tree handprint-footprint craft.

Materials

  • Green, brown, and red nontoxic paint
  • Blank paper
  • Paper plate or scrap cardboard
  • Cotton ball
  • Paintbrush

Instructions

  1. Pour some green paint onto the cardboard.
  2. Use a cotton ball to spread a thin layer of green paint on your child’s palm.
  3. Press six green handprints onto the sheet of paper in the shape of a pyramid with three handprints on the bottom, two in the middle, and one on top. Reapply the green paint as necessary.
  4. Wash the paint off your child’s hand.
  5. Pour some brown paint onto the cardboard.
  6. Use a paintbrush to paint the brown tree stem on directly below the row of three handprints.
  7. Allow the green and red paint to dry thoroughly.
  8. Pour some red paint onto the cardboard.
  9. Use a cotton ball to spread a thing layer of red paint on your child’s fingertip.
  10. Allow your child to decorate the three with red fingerprint ornaments. Reapply the red paint as necessary.
  11. Wash the paint off your child’s finger.

Throughout the year, my daughter and I enjoy making handprint crafts for each holiday. For our Christmas craft this year, she and I made a Christmas tree using handprints and fingerprints. Merry Christmas!
