My daughter and I love making handprint and footprint crafts together for each holiday. Yesterday I shared the handprint-fingerprint Christmas tree that she and I recently made for the Christmas season. In addition to the Christmas tree, she and I also made another Christmas print craft. If you are looking for a fun activity to do with your young child, try our Santa’s sleigh and reindeer handprint-footprint craft.
Materials
- Green, brown, and red nontoxic paint
- Blank paper
- Paper plate or scrap cardboard
- Cotton ball
- Paintbrush
Instructions
- Pour some brown paint onto the cardboard.
- Use a cotton ball to spread a thin layer of brown paint on your child’s palm.
- Press two brown handprints onto the paper, one in the center and one on the lower right. Reapply the brown paint as necessary.
- Wash the paint off your child’s hand.
- Use a paintbrush to paint antlers on the reindeer handprints.
- Pour some green paint onto the cardboard.
- Use a cotton ball to spread a thin layer of green paint on your child’s foot.
- Press a green footprint in the upper left of the paper with the toes facing to the right.
- Wash the paint off your child’s foot.
- Pour some red paint onto the cardboard.
- Spread a thin layer of red paint on your child’s thumb.
- Press the red thumbprint into the center of the green footprint.
- Wash the paint off your child’s thumb.
- Use a paintbrush to paint the sleigh runners under the green footprint and the reindeer harnesses from the green footprint to the brown handprints.
Making footprint and handprint crafts for each holiday of the year makes for a fun craft to do with your child. I love that our handprint-footprint crafts lock a small piece of my daughter in time.
