F Is for Fish Handprint Craft

F is for fish! Help your toddler learn about the letter F by making a fun fish handprint craft.

Materials

  • Green, yellow, orange, dark blue, light blue, white, and black nontoxic paint
  • Blank paper
  • Paper plate or scrap cardboard
  • Cotton ball
  • Cotton swab or paintbrush

Instructions

  1. Pour some green paint onto the cardboard.
  2. Use a cotton ball to spread a thin layer of green paint on your child’s hand.
  3. Press the green handprint into the top left of the paper with the fingers open.
  4. Wash the paint off your child’s hand.
  5. Pour some dark blue paint onto the cardboard.
  6. Use a cotton ball to spread a thin layer of dark blue paint on your child’s hand.
  7. Press the dark blue handprint into the bottom left of the paper with the fingers open.
  8. Wash the paint off your child’s hand.
  9. Pour some yellow paint onto the cardboard.
  10. Use a cotton ball to spread a thin layer of yellow paint on your child’s hand.
  11. Press the yellow handprint into the center right of the paper with the fingers open.
  12. Wash the paint off your child’s hand.
  13. Pour some orange paint onto the cardboard.
  14. Use a cotton ball to spread a thin layer of orange paint on your child’s fingertip.
  15. Press an orange fingerprint next to the palm of each handprint. Reapply the orange paint as needed.
  16. Wash the paint off your child’s finger.
  17. Pour some white paint onto the cardboard.
  18. Use a cotton ball to spread a thin layer of white paint on your child’s fingertip.
  19. Press a white fingertip print onto each handprint near the orange fingerprints. Reapply the white paint as needed.
  20. Wash the paint off your child’s finger.
  21. Pour some black paint onto the cardboard.
  22. Use a paintbrush to paint a black pupil in the center of each white fingerprint.
  23. Pour some light blue paint onto the cardboard.
  24. Use a cotton ball to spread a thin layer of light blue paint on your child’s fingertip.
  25. Press a three light blue fingertip prints above each handprint near the orange fingerprints. Reapply the light blue paint as needed.
  26. Wash the paint off your child’s finger.
  27. Use a paintbrush to paint “F is for fish” in light blue on the paper.
