Paper Christmas Ornament Craft

For the first time ever, my family will have a live Christmas tree for the holiday season. My daughter is excitedly looking forward to a trip to the Christmas tree farm. In anticipation for our tree, my daughter and I have been hard at work making old fashioned ornaments. One ornament that we made in abundance is a simple yet beautiful paper ornament made from strips of paper and staples.

Materials

  • Red, green, and white construction paper
  • Red and green markers
  • Paper cutter or scissors
  • Stapler
  • Yarn

Instructions

  1. Decorate the paper with the markers.
  2. Cut the paper into strips of equal width.
  3. Cut two paper strips to medium length and one to short length.
  4. Arrange five paper strips in the following order: long-medium-short-medium-long.
  5. Staple the five paper strips together at one end.
  6. Gather the other ends of the paper strips and staple.
  7. Thread a piece of yarn through the paper strips and tie into a loop.
  8. Hang the paper Christmas ornament on the Christmas tree.
