R is for reindeer! Help your toddler learn about the letter R by making a fun reindeer handprint and footprint craft.
Materials
- Brown, red, black, and white nontoxic paint
- Blank paper
- Paper plate or scrap cardboard
- Cotton ball
- Cotton swab or paintbrush
Instructions
- Pour some brown paint onto the cardboard.
- Use a cotton ball to spread a thin layer of brown paint on your child’s foot.
- Press the footprint onto the bottom of the paper with the toes pointing up.
- Wash the paint off your child’s foot.
- Use a cotton ball to spread a thin layer of brown paint on your child’s right hand.
- Press the handprint onto the paper on the left of the toes of the footprint.
- Wash the paint off your child’s hand.
- Use a cotton ball to spread a thin layer of brown paint on your child’s left hand.
- Press the handprint onto the paper on the right of the toes of the footprint.
- Wash the paint off your child’s hand.
- Pour some red paint onto the cardboard.
- Use a cotton ball to spread a thin layer of red paint on your child’s thumb.
- Press the red thumbprint into the center of the heel of the footprint.
- Wash the paint off your child’s thumb.
- Pour some white paint onto the cardboard.
- Use a cotton ball to spread a thin layer of white paint on your child’s fingertip.
- Press two white fingerprints near the top of the footprint. Reapply the white paint as needed.
- Wash the paint off your child’s finger.
- Pour some black paint onto the cardboard.
- Use a paintbrush to dot pupils in the center of the white fingerprints.
- Use a paintbrush to paint “R is for reindeer” in brown on the paper.
