R Is for Reindeer Handprint-Footprint Craft

R is for reindeer! Help your toddler learn about the letter R by making a fun reindeer handprint and footprint craft.

Materials

  • Brown, red, black, and white nontoxic paint
  • Blank paper
  • Paper plate or scrap cardboard
  • Cotton ball
  • Cotton swab or paintbrush

Instructions

  1. Pour some brown paint onto the cardboard.
  2. Use a cotton ball to spread a thin layer of brown paint on your child’s foot.
  3. Press the footprint onto the bottom of the paper with the toes pointing up.
  4. Wash the paint off your child’s foot.
  5. Use a cotton ball to spread a thin layer of brown paint on your child’s right hand.
  6. Press the handprint onto the paper on the left of the toes of the footprint.
  7. Wash the paint off your child’s hand.
  8. Use a cotton ball to spread a thin layer of brown paint on your child’s left hand.
  9. Press the handprint onto the paper on the right of the toes of the footprint.
  10. Wash the paint off your child’s hand.
  11. Pour some red paint onto the cardboard.
  12. Use a cotton ball to spread a thin layer of red paint on your child’s thumb.
  13. Press the red thumbprint into the center of the heel of the footprint.
  14. Wash the paint off your child’s thumb.
  15. Pour some white paint onto the cardboard.
  16. Use a cotton ball to spread a thin layer of white paint on your child’s fingertip.
  17. Press two white fingerprints near the top of the footprint. Reapply the white paint as needed.
  18. Wash the paint off your child’s finger.
  19. Pour some black paint onto the cardboard.
  20. Use a paintbrush to dot pupils in the center of the white fingerprints.
  21. Use a paintbrush to paint “R is for reindeer” in brown on the paper.
