Since the middle of last summer, I have been a bit obsessed with making wreaths to hang around my home for each holiday and season. For the summer months, I decorate my home in red, white, and blue décor. I have thus made a couple of patriotic wreaths that work from Memorial Day through Labor Day. After a recent trip to the Dollar Tree, I brought home some red, white, and blue colored deco mesh along with some glittery stars. I then created a fabulous patriot wreath that I will hang on my door from the end of May through the beginning of September. The fun part about working with deco mesh is that you can make your wreath as poofy and large as you want.
Materials
- Wire wreath
- Red, white, and blue deco mesh
- Red, white, and blue pipe cleaners
- Patriotic door knob hanger
- Red, white, and blue sparkly stars
- Red glitter ribbon
- Scissors
- Hot glue
Instructions
- Cut the pipe cleaners into 2-inch pieces.
- Form a loop at one end of the red deco mesh.
- Secure the loop to the wreath with a pipe cleaner.
- Continue securing loops around the outside and inside edge of one-third of the wreath. Alternate between the outside and inside.
- Repeat with the white and blue deco mesh.
- Fluff up the deco mesh loops.
- Tie a piece of red glitter ribbon around the top of the wreath.
- Use a piece of pipe cleaner to secure the door hanger to the bottom of the wreath.
- Use hot glue to secure the red stars on the white deco mesh, white stars on the blue deco mesh, and blue stars on the red deco mesh.
- Display the patriotic wreath.
