    J Is for Jack-o-Lantern Handprint Craft

    J is for Jack-o-lantern! Help your toddler learn about the letter J by making a fun Jack-o-lantern handprint craft.

    Materials

    • Orange, brown, and black nontoxic paint
    • Blank paper
    • Paper plate or scrap cardboard
    • Cotton ball
    • Cotton swab or paintbrush

    Instructions

    1. Pour some orange paint onto the cardboard.
    2. Use a cotton ball to spread a thin layer of orange paint on your child’s right hand.
    3. Press the handprint onto the left center of the paper with the fingers together and pointing down.
    4. Wash the paint off your child’s hand.
    5. Use a cotton ball to spread a thin layer of orange paint on your child’s left hand.
    6. Press the handprint onto the right center of the paper with the fingers together and pointing down. The palm of the second handprint should slightly overlap the palm of the first.
    7. Wash the paint off your child’s hand.
    8. Pour some brown paint onto the cardboard.
    9. Use a cotton ball to spread a thin layer of brown paint on your child’s finger.
    10. Press a brown fingerprint on the top center of the two handprints.
    11. Wash the paint off your child’s finger.
    12. Pour some black paint onto the cardboard.
    13. Dip your child’s finger in the black paint.
    14. Press a face onto the pumpkin using black fingerprints. Reapply the black paint as needed.
    15. Use a paintbrush to paint “J is for Jack-o-lantern” in orange on the paper.
