P is for penguin! Help your toddler learn about the letter P by making a fun penguin handprint craft.

Materials

• Black, white, and orange nontoxic paint
• Blank paper
• Paper plate or scrap cardboard
• Cotton ball
• Cotton swab or paintbrush

Instructions

1. Pour some black paint onto the cardboard.
2. Use a cotton ball to spread a thin layer of black paint on your child’s hand.
3. Press the handprint with the fingers together onto the paper.
4. Wash the paint off your child’s hand.
5. Pour some white paint onto the cardboard.
6. Use a cotton ball to spread a thin layer of white paint on your child’s palm.
7. Press the white palm print into the center of the black handprint.
8. Wash the paint off your child’s palm.
9. Use a cotton ball to spread a thin layer of white paint on your child’s fingertip.
10. Press two white fingertip prints onto the black handprint above the white palm print. Reapply the paint as needed.
11. Wash the paint off your child’s finger.
12. Pour some orange paint onto the cardboard.
13. Use a cotton ball to spread a thin layer of orange paint on your child’s fingertip.
14. Press three orange fingertip prints onto the light brown handprint to form two feet and a beak. Reapply the paint as needed.
15. Wash the paint off your child’s finger.
16. Use a paintbrush to paint two black pupils in the center of the white fingertip prints.
17. Use a paintbrush to paint “P is for penguin” in orange on the paper.
