P is for penguin! Help your toddler learn about the letter P by making a fun penguin handprint craft.
Materials
- Black, white, and orange nontoxic paint
- Blank paper
- Paper plate or scrap cardboard
- Cotton ball
- Cotton swab or paintbrush
Instructions
- Pour some black paint onto the cardboard.
- Use a cotton ball to spread a thin layer of black paint on your child’s hand.
- Press the handprint with the fingers together onto the paper.
- Wash the paint off your child’s hand.
- Pour some white paint onto the cardboard.
- Use a cotton ball to spread a thin layer of white paint on your child’s palm.
- Press the white palm print into the center of the black handprint.
- Wash the paint off your child’s palm.
- Use a cotton ball to spread a thin layer of white paint on your child’s fingertip.
- Press two white fingertip prints onto the black handprint above the white palm print. Reapply the paint as needed.
- Wash the paint off your child’s finger.
- Pour some orange paint onto the cardboard.
- Use a cotton ball to spread a thin layer of orange paint on your child’s fingertip.
- Press three orange fingertip prints onto the light brown handprint to form two feet and a beak. Reapply the paint as needed.
- Wash the paint off your child’s finger.
- Use a paintbrush to paint two black pupils in the center of the white fingertip prints.
- Use a paintbrush to paint “P is for penguin” in orange on the paper.
