My daughter and I have been busy the past few weeks making patriotic crafts to decorate our home for the Fourth of July. For the summer months of the year from Memorial Day through Labor Day, I decorate my living room with red, white, and blue lights. I wanted to add more handmade decorations to add to the patriotism. One of the most recent crafts that my daughter and I made were some simple but fun red, white, and blue patriotic lanterns made with disposable cups and ribbons.
Materials
- Red, white, and blue disposable cups
- Red, white, and blue washi tape
- Hot glue
- Red, white, and blue ribbon
- Scissors
Instructions
- Decorate the disposable cup with washi tape.
- Poke a hole through the bottom of the cup.
- Cut a piece of ribbon and tie a knot at the ends to form a loop.
- Thread the loop through the hole in the cup.
- Secure the knot on the inside of the cup with hot glue.
- Cut long pieces of ribbon.
- Glue the long ribbons around the lip of the cup.
- Allow the hot glue to dry completely.
- Display the patriotic cup lantern.
