From the beginning of fall through Thanksgiving, I decorate my home with pumpkins. I love making crafts with my two young children to place around my house. For a recent homeschool lesson, my kids and I made pumpkins using pipe cleaners and pony beads. My kindergartener made hers all by herself while my toddler practiced his fine motor skills by helping me thread the small beads on the ends of the pipe cleaners.
Materials
- 4 orange pipe cleaners
- 1 green pipe cleaner
- 144 orange pony beads
Instructions
- Line the orange pipe cleaners up and twist together at the middle to form the bottom of the pumpkin.
- Thread 18 orange pony beads on each of the eight ends of the orange pipe cleaners.
- Twist the tops of the beaded pipe cleaners together.
- Wrap the green pipe cleaner around the top of the orange pipe cleaners and twist twice.
- Wrap the ends of the green pipe cleaner around a pen to curl.
- Display the pony bead pumpkin craft.
