Paper plates are a simple and easy-to-find material for crafting with young children. While making crafts for Valentine’s Day this year, my daughter and I made some cute pizza valentines using paper plates that I had in my pantry, markers, and construction paper.

Materials

• White paper plate
• Red and brown markers
• Yellow, red, and pink construction paper
• Glue

Instructions

1. Color the inside circle of the paper plate red.
2. Color the outside edge of the paper plate brown.
3. Cut the yellow paper into small strips.
4. Cut the red paper into medium hearts.
5. Glue the yellow strips onto the top of the colored paper plate.
6. Glue the red hearts on top of the yellow strips.
7. Glue the paper plate to the top of the pink paper.
8. Write “You’re the pepperoni in my pizza” across the bottom of the pink paper.
