I love craft time with my kiddos. With Valentine’s Day right around the corner, we have been busy making crafts made from hearts to hang around the house. Using pink, purple, and blue hearts, my children and I crafted some adorable heart-inspired hippos. My daughter cut and glued her hippo all by herself. My preschool son also glued his pieces on all by himself.
Materials
- Purple, pink, blue, and white construction paper
- Wiggle eyes
- Scissors
- Glue
Instructions
- Cut one large heart, one medium heart, two elongated semi-circles, and one line with a curved end from the first color of paper.
- Cut four small hearts from the second color of paper.
- Cut two lines from the white paper.
- Glue the two white lines to the back top of the medium heart.
- Glue the top of the medium heart to the bottom of the large heart.
- Glue the line with the curved end to the back side of the large heart.
- Glue two small hearts to the elongated semi-circles.
- Glue the elongated semi-circles to the back of the medium heart on either side of the point.
- Glue the other two small hearts to the medium heart above the white lines.
- Glue two wiggle eyes to the medium heart above the small circles.
- Display the heart hippo Valentine’s Day craft.
