Eight Maids a-Milking Craft

On the eighth day of Christmas, my true love gave to me eight maids a-milking, seven swans a-swimming, six geese a-laying, five gold rings, four calling birds, three French hens, two turtle doves, and a partridge in a pear tree. For the eighth day of Christmas this year, my daughter and I made eight maids with buckets of milk from construction paper.

Materials

  • Blue, white, beige, black, brown, and red construction paper
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • Blue and pink markers

Instructions

  1. Cut the blue paper into eight dress shapes.
  2. Cut the white paper into eight apron shapes and eight small ovals.
  3. Cut the beige paper into sixteen short strips, eight small ovals, and sixteen tiny ovals.
  4. Cut the black paper into sixteen tiny ovals and eight wiggly arch hair shapes.
  5. Cut the brown paper into sixteen bucket shapes.
  6. Glue two beige strips to the bottom back of each blue dress shape.
  7. Turn the dresses over and glue the white aprons to the front of each dress.
  8. Glue the tiny black ovals to the bottom of each leg.
  9. Glue the tiny beige ovals to the end of each arm.
  10. Glue the black hair on the beige ovals.
  11. Glue the heads to the dresses.
  12. Draw two blue eyes and one pink mouth on the face of each maid.
  13. Glue the eight maids to the red paper.
  14. Glue the white oval to the top of each brown bucket shape.
  15. Blue a milk bucket on one hand of each maid.
  16. Display the eight maids a-milking.
