On the eighth day of Christmas, my true love gave to me eight maids a-milking, seven swans a-swimming, six geese a-laying, five gold rings, four calling birds, three French hens, two turtle doves, and a partridge in a pear tree. For the eighth day of Christmas this year, my daughter and I made eight maids with buckets of milk from construction paper.
Materials
- Blue, white, beige, black, brown, and red construction paper
- Scissors
- Glue
- Blue and pink markers
Instructions
- Cut the blue paper into eight dress shapes.
- Cut the white paper into eight apron shapes and eight small ovals.
- Cut the beige paper into sixteen short strips, eight small ovals, and sixteen tiny ovals.
- Cut the black paper into sixteen tiny ovals and eight wiggly arch hair shapes.
- Cut the brown paper into sixteen bucket shapes.
- Glue two beige strips to the bottom back of each blue dress shape.
- Turn the dresses over and glue the white aprons to the front of each dress.
- Glue the tiny black ovals to the bottom of each leg.
- Glue the tiny beige ovals to the end of each arm.
- Glue the black hair on the beige ovals.
- Glue the heads to the dresses.
- Draw two blue eyes and one pink mouth on the face of each maid.
- Glue the eight maids to the red paper.
- Glue the white oval to the top of each brown bucket shape.
- Blue a milk bucket on one hand of each maid.
- Display the eight maids a-milking.
