H is for hedgehog! Help your toddler learn about the letter H by making a fun hedgehog handprint craft.
Materials
- Light brown and dark brown nontoxic paint
- Blank paper
- Paper plate or scrap cardboard
- Cotton ball
- Cotton swab or paintbrush
Instructions
- Pour some light brown paint onto the cardboard.
- Use a cotton ball to spread a thin layer of light brown paint on your child’s hand excluding the thumb.
- Press the handprint with the fingers together and pointing to the side onto the paper.
- Wash the paint off your child’s hand.
- Pour some dark brown paint onto the cardboard.
- Use a cotton ball to spread a thin layer of dark brown paint on your child’s hand excluding the thumb.
- Press two dark brown handprints with the fingers open and pointing up next to and slightly overlapping the light brown handprint. Reapply the paint as needed.
- Wash the paint off your child’s hand.
- Use a cotton ball to spread a thin layer of dark brown paint on your child’s fingertip.
- Press one dark brown fingertip print in the center of the light brown handprint and four dark brown fingertip prints under the dark brown handprints. Reapply the paint as needed.
- Wash the paint off your child’s finger.
- Use a paintbrush to paint “H is for hedgehog” in dark brown on the paper.
