I is for ibis! Help your toddler learn about the letter I by making a fun ibis handprint craft. (Ibises are long-legged wading birds.)
Materials
- Red and black nontoxic paint
- Blank paper
- Paper plate or scrap cardboard
- Cotton ball
- Cotton swab or paintbrush
Instructions
- Pour some red paint onto the cardboard.
- Use a cotton ball to spread a thin layer of red paint on your child’s hand.
- Press the handprint with the fingers together and thumb pointing up onto the paper.
- Wash the paint off your child’s hand.
- Use a cotton ball to spread a thin layer of red paint on your child’s finger.
- Press the red fingerprint above the thumbprint.
- Wash the paint off your child’s finger.
- Pour some black paint onto the cardboard.
- Use a cotton ball to spread a thin layer of black paint on your child’s finger.
- Press the black fingerprint extending from the red fingerprint.
- Wash the paint off your child’s finger.
- Use a paintbrush to paint a small black dot in the center of the red fingerprint near the black fingerprint.
- Use a paintbrush to paint two red bird legs extending under the red handprint.
- Use a paintbrush to paint “I is for ibis” in red on the paper.
